The Japanese Society of Microscopy

Active participation to Photography Competition is required! As for application for this competition, your applications are accepted only through Internet also. Please be forewarned that the winning entries will be published for JSM's personal use if the situation calls for it.

(1) Photographs to be subject to selection

Advanced microscope photographs from scientific and technical standpoints as well as artistic or unique microscope photographs are invited. Any forms of microscope photographs as long as they are based on microscopy, are accepted. (A variety of techniques can be combined.)

However, the following photographs are excluded:

Awang photographs in the other photography competitions
Award- winning photographs in the other associations
Photographs appeared in any academic journals

(2) Applicant eligibility

Registered participants to the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Microscopy (Membership is not required.)

(3) Application period of Photography Competition

January 11^th(Wed) - February 23^th (Thu), 2012 17：00

(4) Announcement of Awards

Winning entries are appeared in the Proceedings and to be exhibited during the Meeting.

(5) Prize for participation

Prize for participation is given to everybody unless winning without fail.

(6) Selection of excellent photographs

Awards are selected by all participants' public vote from a wide standpoint such as quality, scientific and technical values, artistic character and other comprehensive deliberation. Awards for excellent photographs of the 68th Annual Meeting are given at the Social Gathering.. Name of winners are appeared on Homepage of JSM.

(7) Application Method

Please post through the application page of Photography Competition in the website of the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Microscopy.

Please post photographs for competition with input of their titles, names of authors and sub-organs, the subjects photographed, their conditions with each caption in no more than 150 characters explaining their value in science, techniques and artistry.
Photographs without caption may be rejected.
Maximum size of image is 600 pixels vertical and 500 pixels horizontal each. Please post photographs with the same form as one exhibited at the venue of the competition.
If discrepancy is found between posted photographs and exhibited ones, such applicants may be disqualified.
Please be forewarned that the title, name of author and affiliation should identify to the posted data through Internet.
Colors for charts and photographs are allowed but the proceeding only carries monochrome photographs.
In case of applying more than one photograph, please repeat the last action again.
