Overview of the Annual Meeting of JSM

WELCOME

Dear microscopists/reserchers and associating members
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you to Tsukuba, Japan, for the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Microscopy (JSM) held on May 14-16 2012 at Tsukuba International Congress Center (Epochal Tsukuba). It is also a great honor to organize the Meeting facing new era after 60th anniversary of our society (founded in 1949).
Recently, various type electron and light microscopies based on the new theory have been developed and improved, which excavates opportunities of new challenges for the microscopy science. Considering such exciting surroundings of our society, we welcome foreign researchers/microscopists to discuss their findings in this meeting. In addition to cutting edge-techniques of modern electron microscopy at sub-nm level, high resolution imaging far beyond the theoretical resolution of light microscopy based on new theory for fluorescent-light techniques are growing in the field of biological sciences.
Under the theme "Harmony of Microscopy Sciences", the programs are composed of oral and poster presentations by more than 800 members, 2 special sessions (lectures by the JSM Seto Prize Winners, and honor lectures), 15 symposia, 1 endowed workshop, 2 tutorial sessions, and exhibitions by many companies relating with microscopy etc. Banquet is held on the second day (May 15). Public lecture is held to communicate with the citizen on May 13 (Sunday) at the venue, where some light and electron microscopes are prepared for the participants/citizen to observe some specimens.
The Organizing Committee members of the 68th Annual Meeting of the JSM and the people of Tsukuba welcome you and wish you a pleasant stay.
