Role of corneal fibroblasts in infection
Abstract: Corneal fibroblasts are responsible for the homeostasis of the transparent cornea through synthesis and degradation of collagen fibrils. Under the pathological conditions, such as infection, corneal fibroblasts play roles as a control tower to recognize the microbial pathogen and to modulate the secretion and activation of MMPs.
